Options

1. Give a private concert for family, friends or teachers (or any combination)
A. Organize performance group (solo is fine too)
B. Pick appropriate material for intended audience
C. Arrange rehearsal and performance time/place

2. Construct you own instrument
A. Decide on the sound production method (buzz, reed, string, percussive, or ?)
B. Make a plan for your instrument
C. Make a list of materials (you may use your own mouthpiece or barrow one)
D. Build your instrument
E. Demonstrate it to class
F. Write reflections on your experience

3. Compose or arrange music for yourself or others to perform (vocals can be used)
A. Choose instrumentation (solo is fine)
B. Produce a “Score” (hand written or use computer notation program)
C. Arrange to have it performed (student or adult musicians)
D. Write Reflections of your experience as composer

4. Start or Join a performance group outside of your regular music class.
A. What is the group called?
B. Create a rehearsal schedule and goals for the group
C. Create a list of performances (time and place where your group will perform)
D. Create a song list and a personal list
E. Create invitations to at least one upcoming performance and give them to family and friends (keep a record of who receives invitations)
F. Write Reflections about your experiences of playing and performing with this group

5. Come up with your own project. If you have a project idea related to music performance isn’t listed, discuss it with the teacher.


General Information
This is an ‘extended learning project’ and is expected to be completed outside of regular class time. However, the band room and other resources will be available as needed but it is important to make arrangements in advance
